Antoni Krej is a talented Polish trumpet player born in Warsaw in 2005. He began his musical journey at age 9 at the O. Kolberg Primary Music School in Warsaw, studying under Tomasz Kirszling and Paweł Wróblewski. During this time, he played in the school symphony orchestra and formed a trumpet-accordion duo, winning numerous awards in national and international competitions. He later attended the Zenon Brzewski Music High School in Warsaw, where he studied with Jan Harasimowicz and Jakub Waszczeniuk, further developing his trumpet skills and chamber music expertise. In 2022, Krej received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, where he participated in orchestral workshops and continued his education at the Interlochen Arts Academy under the guidance of Ken Larson. He graduated with the highest honors and participated in masterclasses with renowned trumpet masters such as Ole Edvard Antonsen and Vincent diMartino. At Interlochen, he gained extensive stage experience performing as a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Interlochen Symphony Orchestra, and the Interlochen Wind Ensemble, working under celebrated conductors. Krej’s talent has been recognized internationally, and he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. His repertoire spans both classical and contemporary works, showcasing his versatility as a musician. After graduating from Interlochen, Krej received a full-ride scholarship to pursue his musical career at the University of Denver, where he continues to develop under the guidance of David Artley and Brian Neal. In 2024, he co-founded the Denver Chamber Orchestra (DCO), a college and community-based ensemble dedicated to delivering world-class performances and fostering artistic growth. The DCO promotes a diverse repertoire, serves as a platform for emerging and established musicians, and enriches the cultural vitality of the region. As a music enthusiast, Krej actively promotes music among younger audiences, participating in concerts and recordings that highlight the works of Polish composers for children. For him, music is a universal language that connects generations and cultures, and performing in chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras brings him immense satisfaction and joy in sharing the beauty of art with audiences.
